Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 October 2026
This policy explains what information OneLiner ("we", "us") collects when you use playoneliner.com and the installed OneLiner web app, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions: [email protected].
What we collect
- Your username. You pick it. It is public on leaderboards and boards. We don't ask for your real name, email or phone number to play.
- Your answers and scores. The lines you write, their scores, your rank, reactions you give and get, your streak and your credits. Top answers of past days are shown publicly on Best answers with your username.
- Friends and groups. Usernames you add as friends, challenges you send, and private groups you create or join.
- A device key. When you claim a username we store a random key on your device (in your browser's local storage) so the app knows it's you. It isn't linked to your name or contact details.
- Notification settings. If you turn on alerts, your browser gives us a push subscription address so we can send you game reminders. You can turn this off at any time in the app or in your browser settings.
- Basic technical data. Like any website, our hosting provider processes your IP address, browser type and request logs to deliver the site and keep it secure.
How we use it
- To run the games: score answers, build leaderboards, keep streaks and credits, and show friends' activity.
- To keep it fair and safe: detect cheating, spam and abusive content.
- To send reminders you asked for.
- To show ads that keep the game free.
AI scoring
To score an answer, we send the answer text and the prompt to our AI scoring provider (TypeSafe AI). We don't send your username or any contact details with it. The provider returns scores; we store the scores with your answer.
Advertising and cookies
OneLiner uses Google AdSense and Google Ad Manager to show ads, including optional rewarded ads you can choose to watch for credits.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
- Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services: How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps.
Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), you'll be asked for consent before personalised ads are shown, and you can change your choice at any time.
OneLiner itself doesn't use advertising or analytics cookies. We use your browser's local storage to remember your device key, theme and settings.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information. We share data only with the services that run OneLiner:
- Cloudflare (hosting and delivery of the site).
- Supabase (our database).
- TypeSafe AI (scoring answers, as described above).
- Google (ads, as described above).
- Your browser's push service (only if you turn on alerts).
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account, answers and scores while your account exists, so leaderboards and the archive stay complete. Push subscriptions are removed when they stop working or when you turn alerts off. Server logs are kept for a short time by our hosting provider.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your data: email [email protected] from any address with your username and we'll delete your account, answers and friends list within 30 days. Answers already shared by others (for example in screenshots) are outside our control.
- Access or correct: ask us at the same address.
- Notifications: turn them off in the app's Profile or in your browser settings.
- Ads: use the opt-out links above.
Children
OneLiner is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
Data is sent over HTTPS and stored with access limited to the game's server. No method of storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
